She is a licensed psychologist and psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapist, holding a Ph.D., and currently serves as a Researcher (Tenure Track) at Guglielmo Marconi University in Rome. Her academic work encompasses both teaching and research activities, with a primary focus on the application of emerging technologies, such as Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence, within clinical and dynamic psychology.

Her research interests also include personality assessment, as well as the use of music and intersubjective music therapy in clinical settings.

She is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the Society for Psychotherapy Research (SPR) – International and Italy Area Group, and the Italian Psychological Association (AIP), Clinical and Dynamic Section.

Ilaria Maria Antonietta Benzi is a psychologist and psychodynamic-relational psychotherapist with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. She teaches Primary Care Psychology at the University of Milano-Bicocca and serves as Associate Editor for Current Psychology (Springer Nature).
She is a member of the Society for Psychotherapy Research (SPR International and Italy Area Group), the Italian Association of Psychology (AIP, Clinical and Dynamic Psychology Section), the International Society of Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (ISTFP), the International Society for the Study of Personality Disorders (ISSPD), and the Personality Disorders Lab (PDLab).
Her main research interests include dimensional models of personality development and psychopathology, behavioral addictions in adolescence and emerging adulthood, psychological assessment (test construction and validation), psychotherapy effectiveness, and advanced statistical methods. She has contributed to national and international research projects focusing on emerging personality pathology, epistemic trust, mentalization, and the effectiveness of psychological interventions.

Since 2013, she has been President of the Centro Studi per la Cultura Psicologica (CSCP), where she coordinates scientific and educational activities. She is also a founding member and past president of the Alumni Bicocca association.
Since 2020, she has coordinated the communication team of the Lombardy Board of Psychologists and, since 2021, has served as a representative on the General Council of ENPAP (National Social Security and Welfare Body for Psychologists), where she promotes representation and gender policies.
